Dalva tomorrow night

The View was awesome last week. It had a great, um, view, and giant glasses of wine. Pretty sweet.

Tomorrow night we're going to Dalva in the Mission. There will not be an SF Wednesday next week since lots of people will be out of town, so be sure to come out tomorrow!

Dalva
3121 16th St
San Francisco, CA 94103-3327
(415) 252-7740
Cross Street: Albion Street

The Scene
From paint-chipped doors to wrought-iron windows, hints of provincial France dominate the decor. Wooden tables extend from mustard-colored walls, offering a charming take on cocktail-style seating. The space is small, but high ceilings, a stockpile of hanging art and a faux balcony suggest otherwise. There's a tiny back room and the bar stocks an extensive beer selection, as well a specialties like the lime-infused caipirinha.

The Draw
The look is Old World, but the music and clientele are trendy. Twenty-somethings pack the place on weekends, sipping house-made sangria to DJ-spun downtempo and hip-hop that steers clear of Top 40 favorites. Seating is easy to find on weeknights, but for those looking for extreme privacy: ascend the candlelit stairway to a small, dark loft with three well-spaced, small tables; red candlelight and a small orange bulb on a wall provide sexy lighting, making this nook the perfect place for a secluded smooch.

The View, Marriott hotel

The View is one of San Francisco's best rooftop bars. It's located at the top of the Marriott San Francisco.

Wish tomorrow night

November 2 we're going to Al's favoite spot, Wish!

WISH
1539 Folsom St
San Francisco, CA 94103
(415) 278-9474

The Scene
Mirrors above the bar and window-lined walls keep this hallway of a space from feeling cramped. Lots of bench seating and cocktail tables let the after-work crowd relax, while providing enough space for night crawlers to rock out. Tea-light sconces, mahogany woodwork and crimson hanging lampshades provide warmth without feeling too put together. A trip to the restrooms provides patrons with a refreshingly pleasant experience; they're clean with stocked supplies and marble counters--more classy bistro than partied-in watering hole.

The Draw
It's all about drinking and looking fine. The lounge offers extended happy-hour specials and DJ-fueled background beats for unpretentious nine-to-fivers. In the later hours, it hosts an ever-changing lineup of high-energy parties for the fashion forward. It's not a dance destination, so there's never a cover charge, but that doesn't stop revelers from shaking it to hip-hop, house or electro grooves.
