The Scene
With hanging glass lamps and vibrant orange-and-gold walls, this vast open-air room brings a touch of Middle Eastern exoticism to the happening Mission strip. The bar area is strewn with clutches of low-slung chairs and couches, which are perfect for happy hour nibbles. In addition to a traditional dining area further back, an upstairs lounge offers even more seating.

The Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar ext Wednesday

Right when I heard about this place, I knew we had to go. There's a band that floats around in a pool, flaming drinks, and a monsoon every 30 minutes! Don't miss the next SF Wednesday!

The Scene
This spot attracts a combination of visiting seniors, fun-loving business types and young ironists looking for a campy night out. The bar itself is splendorous, with fake lilacs vining down from a waterfall guarded by an Easter Island-like totem. Ritualistic masks, puffer fish hanging from the ceiling and grass huts shaped like giant beefeater hats complete the tropical theme. A Spanish galleon run aground forms the dance floor, which overlooks a shimmering tropical pool.

The Draw
The most impressive attraction is the tiki-boat-cum-stage, which floats across the pool with a full band aboard. Dancers take in the island air and gyrate to cheesy pop songs. Be prepared: Every 30 minutes or so, a monsoon pours from the ceiling, spraying unsuspecting dancers with tropical mist.

The Scene
Everything in this hypnotic space is red. Stacks of translucent liquor bottles flank the entrance, which gives way to a horseshoe bar that spans the far side of the petite room. Attractive female bartenders set the pace, selecting a sexy mix of acid-jazz and slinging well-made cocktails for the hipster clientele and Commodore Hotel guests. Across from the bar, throw pillows adorn curved booth seating, perfect for sidling up to a new friend.

SF Wednesdays pics

Last Wednesday was a great success at Bambuddha Lounge with a great turnout and fun event. We're getting 10-15 people at each of these which is awesome!

At Bambuddha Lounge we had the pleasure of sharing the venue with such celebrities as Johnny Mosley and Vinod Khosla.

But the highlight of the night definitely came from John and Sean, who were able to aquire an entire bottle of Jack from the bar :)
