The Scene
A black door featuring a skull-like parody of the Playboy bunny gives way to a shed-like interior. Punk-influenced tunes fill the spacious main room, where the focal point is the bar's approximately 30 draft beers (including Great White). Beneath a collage of signs (everything from "On the Air" to "Boobs Not Bombs"), friendly, tattooed bartenders chat with grizzled regulars (many of whom are art students). Further back, a small room holds a food counter, pool table and two pinball machines.

The Draw
The outdoor beer garden is the place to be on warm days and nights. Eucalyptus trees provide shade, and rows of picnic benches are surrounded by a colorful mural. This is the ideal destination for groups to gather and pass around pitchers of beer--a rarity in San Francisco bars. To newcomers, the decor may seem haphazard, but all elements strike the perfect balance.

Be there or be squares! As usual, call me if you get lost (408-480-1933)

PS Maggie, you have to come out and drag andrew with you, even if just for one drink....
