The Food
The front counter dispenses caffeine and a wide selection of cakes and pastries. However, if you need something a little more substantial, a tiny galley-sized kitchen off to the left offers a surprisingly comprehensive menu, from morning fare like eggs with potatoes and crunchy slabs of Acme levain toast to midday treats like a juicy, delicious Niman Ranch hamburger served on focaccia with house-made ketchup. A couple of pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches and specials like roast chicken or sauteed veggies over basmati rice round out the offerings.

10pm:

Metro City Bar & Tapeo Restaurant
3600 16th St
San Francisco, CA 94114
(415) 703-9751

In Short
Perched on the second floor above Market Street, this laid-back bar has narrow balconies for outdoor smoking that overlook some of the Castro's best people-watching. Inside, the interior is decorated in deep reds with brass accents, and furnished with high tables and chairs surrounding a central bar. The Metro is one of the less-cruisey bars in the area, making it a good place for friends or small groups to enjoy drinks and conversation.

call me if you get lost/can't find us.
